About this dive site

This dive site, Alidhoo Caves, offers a captivating underwater journey beginning on a beautiful top reef at a shallow 5 meters. This vibrant reef gently slopes down to a dramatic drop-off and wall, which extends beyond the specified maximum depth of 20 meters, reaching up to 30 meters in sections. Along the impressive reef wall, divers can explore numerous large overhangs and formations, providing intriguing spots to discover. Marine life is abundant and diverse, with opportunities to encounter sleeping stingrays and turtles sheltering in the overhangs. Lionfish, moray eels, and lobsters can be spotted in the cracks and crevices of the reef. Out in the blue, divers frequently observe larger pelagic species such as eagle rays, various shark species, Napoleonfish, and barracuda. Additionally, schools of friendly batfish are known to gracefully follow divers during their exploration. Alidhoo Caves is an excellent dive site year-round, benefiting from the generally superb visibility characteristic of the Maldives. Its accessible shallow top reef makes it perfectly suitable for snorkelers and freedivers. For scuba divers, the wall and overhangs provide rewarding exploration for all experience levels, from beginners enjoying the shallower parts to more advanced divers exploring the deeper sections of the wall. Keep an eye out for passing pelagics and the rich macro life within the overhangs.
