Anga Faru

This dive site, known as Anga Faru or "Mouth Reef" in the local language, is a substantial reef system in the Maldives. It features an enclosed lagoon and sandbank, providing varied topography. Divers typically navigate this site by drifting along its slopes, which can be fairly steep in certain areas, adding a dynamic element to the dive. The reef is also characterized by multiple overhangs, offering interesting architectural features to explore. Anga Faru is renowned for its abundant and diverse marine life. Divers can expect to encounter significant pelagic species such as Turtles, Manta Rays, Eagle Rays, and various types of Sharks. The reef's overhangs are particularly vibrant, covered densely with soft corals, notably beautiful blue varieties, which contribute to the overall rich ecosystem where all sorts of marine life can be observed. The best time to experience Anga Faru generally aligns with the Maldives' dry season (November to April) for excellent visibility and comfortable diving conditions. Highlights include incredible big animal sightings and the picturesque soft coral gardens. For freedivers, the average depth of 11 meters and maximum of 22 meters, coupled with prolific marine life, make it an appealing location. Divers should be prepared for potential currents, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy drift diving.
