About this dive site

This dive site, known as Baarah Out, begins on an expansive oceanic plateau at a comfortable depth of 8-12 meters before transitioning into a dramatic wall that slopes down to approximately 28 meters. While the stated maximum depth for the dive site is 20 meters, the wall provides a deeper exploration opportunity for those appropriately certified. The topography is characterized by numerous large coral blocks and intriguing small caves, creating a captivating underwater landscape. The site is exceptionally rich in marine life, boasting a vibrant population of residential reef fish including snappers, fusiliers, and groupers. Divers can also expect to encounter lobsters, various moray eels, and frequent sightings of turtles. Pelagic encounters are a highlight, with green bump-head parrotfish, majestic eagle rays, and a variety of sharks often seen. On fortunate occasions, manta rays may also make an appearance. The best time to visit Baarah Out, similar to much of the Maldives, is generally during the dry season from December to May, offering optimal visibility and calmer seas, although manta ray sightings can be more frequent during the wet season. The relatively shallow plateau makes it suitable for snorkelers and freedivers, while the wall dive and potential for pelagic encounters offer an exciting experience for scuba divers. Always be mindful of currents, which can be moderate, especially on the outer reef.
