About this dive site

This dive site, the Filladhoo wreck, is situated south of Filladhoo Island in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll, marking the northern-most wreck site in the Maldives. Parts of this impressive structure are visible breaking the water's surface, making it an easily identifiable and accessible site. While its specific history isn't detailed, it has become a thriving artificial reef, providing shelter and sustenance to a wide array of marine life. Diving here reveals a vibrant ecosystem where divers can encounter large green sea turtles seeking refuge within the wreck's structure. Schools of majestic eagle rays are frequently observed gliding by, alongside numerous small tropical fish that dart among the corals colonizing the wreck. Reef sharks also patrol the perimeter, adding to the thrill of the dive. The Filladhoo wreck is an excellent dive destination year-round, offering consistent opportunities to witness its resident marine life. Its shallow depths make it ideal for both scuba divers and freedivers to explore, with ample natural light illuminating the wreck and its inhabitants. Divers are encouraged to appreciate the wreck as a crucial habitat, observing marine life without disturbance, and freedivers can easily explore the upper sections and observe the bustling ecosystem.
