About this dive site

This dive site features the Halaveli Wreck, a cargo vessel purposely sunk close to the Halaveli resort in the Maldives. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom at 28 meters, with its deck at 21 meters, approximately 20 meters away from the main reef. Divers can explore the relatively intact superstructure and holds, navigating the various sections of the vessel. The wreck has become a thriving artificial reef, attracting a variety of marine life. Notably, a couple of large moray eels have made the wreck their home, and a resident turtle is frequently spotted. The site is also adorned with pretty soft corals, adding vibrant color and life to the metallic structure. Due to its depth, this site is highly recommended for divers with Advanced Diving certification or deep dive training. Nitrox is also suggested to maximize bottom time and enhance safety. Keep your camera ready to capture the beautiful soft corals and the resident marine inhabitants. The Maldives generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round, making it a great dive any time.
