About this dive site

This dive site, known as Heaven and Hell or Theefarido Thila, is a long, narrow thila comprised of three distinct pinnacles. It is primarily a deeper dive, with the pinnacles starting between 30-35 meters and ascending to a shallowest point of 15 meters. Divers will typically navigate along these structures, exploring the deeper sections where the thila meets the seafloor before ascending to the shallower reef tops. The site is celebrated for its abundant marine life, particularly larger pelagic species. Divers frequently encounter tuna and majestic eagle rays. Under the right conditions, lucky divers may also witness graceful manta rays. The reef itself will likely host a variety of reef fish and corals typical of Maldivian thilas. Heaven and Hell is best visited during conditions favorable for pelagic sightings, which can vary with currents and moon cycles. It is recommended to dive with Nitrox due to the deeper profile of the dive, allowing for extended bottom time to fully appreciate the site's offerings. While suitable for experienced freedivers, its shallowest point at 15m makes it generally unsuitable for casual snorkeling.
