About this dive site

This dive site, Ifuru Thila, is a renowned round channel thila situated on the east side of You&Me resort, at the eastern end of Raa Atoll in the Maldives. As a channel thila, divers can expect exhilarating drift dives, often navigating along the reef contours and exploring the vibrant reef top which starts at 5 meters. There's no specific historical account provided, but like many Maldivian thilas, it serves as a critical underwater ecosystem. The site is teeming with pelagic action, making it a hotspot for encounters with impressive marine life. Divers frequently observe majestic napoleons, formidable gray reef sharks, schools of barracudas, and graceful eagle rays. The reef itself supports a diverse array of corals and smaller reef fish, though the primary draw is the larger fauna. Ifuru Thila is best visited during periods of incoming currents, which typically bring in nutrient-rich waters and attract the larger marine species, enhancing the pelagic show. Due to potentially strong currents, this site is highly recommended for experienced divers comfortable with drift diving. Freedivers and snorkelers might find the currents too challenging, making it primarily a scuba diving destination.
