About this dive site

This dive site, Kandoo Kan, is celebrated as an excellent entry-level destination, particularly noted for its slow incoming current which provides a relaxed environment for divers. Located close to the reef, it offers easy navigation and is a prime spot for observing large marine life. There is no specific historical background or unique navigation method provided beyond following the reef with the gentle current. Divers at Kandoo Kan can expect to encounter a vibrant array of marine animals. The site is particularly famous for its huge green sea turtles, considered one of the best locations to see them. Other large pelagic species include grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, stingrays, and majestic eagle rays. Schools of colorful red snappers and oriental sweetlips add to the rich biodiversity of the reef. The best time to visit Kandoo Kan, like much of the Maldives, is generally year-round, with calmer seas and excellent visibility during the dry season (December to April). This site is highly recommended for beginner divers due to its mild current, making it a perfect spot to build confidence while experiencing incredible marine encounters. Freedivers will also find the abundant, easily accessible marine life, especially the turtles, very rewarding.
