About this dive site

This dive site is the Kudimaa Wreck, a medium-sized steel vessel intentionally sunk in 1998 to offer a dedicated wreck diving experience for the many divers visiting South Ari Atoll. Located very close to the house reef of Machafushi island, it is relatively easy to navigate for certified divers, with an average depth of 14 meters. Kudimaa is a fantastic site for macro enthusiasts, boasting a rich diversity of small marine life. Divers can expect to encounter numerous species of nudibranch, shrimp, and crabs hiding within the wreck's structure. Keep a keen eye out for the resident frogfish, which is often spotted expertly camouflaged on the wreck. The best time to visit the Maldives typically aligns with the dry season from November to April, offering optimal visibility and calmer waters for diving. This site is particularly recommended for underwater photographers focusing on macro subjects. Freedivers will also find the average depth of 14 meters appealing for extended breath-hold exploration of the wreck's exterior.
