When currents are present, there is a good chance of encountering gray reef sharks patrolling the area. Seasonally, the site also becomes a hotspot for majestic mantas and mobulas. The best time to visit Maafaru Caves for peak animal encounters, particularly sharks, mantas, and mobulas, is when conditions are optimal with strong currents.
