It is typically enjoyed as a drift dive, guided by the prevailing currents. The underwater topography features a very shallow top reef, perfect for surface viewing, which gradually slopes down to a depth of about 25 meters, providing a gentle descent for divers. Marine life at Maroshi Irumathi is diverse and engaging. Divers frequently encounter schools of juvenile and young barracudas, graceful turtles, and schooling blue line snappers. The site is also home to patches of colorful leather corals, and it's common to spot sleeping nurse sharks and stingrays resting on the sandy bottom or under ledges. The best time to visit the Maldives for diving is generally year-round, with good conditions for marine encounters at Maroshi Irumathi. For divers, the drift dive experience offers a relaxing way to explore the reef, while freedivers will appreciate the shallow top reef and accessible depths. Be mindful of currents during the drift, and keep an eye out for the unique spectacle of sleeping nurse sharks.
