About this dive site

This dive site, Miyaru Giri, is an underwater pinnacle located in a channel south of You&Me Resort, near Kadholhudhoo Island. It requires a 45-minute boat ride to reach. The top of the giri starts at a manageable depth of 6-7 meters and gently slopes down to a maximum of 24 meters. Divers typically navigate around the pinnacle, paying special attention to the southern side where prominent coral blocks serve as hotbeds for large marine encounters. The vibrant waters of Miyaru Giri are teeming with diverse marine species. Divers can expect to encounter impressive schools of batfish, snappers, and sweetlips. Other notable residents include the majestic napoleon wrasse, various lobsters, graceful eagle rays, and powerful grey reef sharks. Hawksbill turtles are also frequently sighted, adding to the rich biodiversity and making this a prime spot for pelagic sightings. The Maldives generally offers excellent diving year-round, and Miyaru Giri is no exception, with highlights including frequent sightings of large pelagic species. While no specific best time to visit is mentioned, periods of stable weather and less strong currents would be ideal for a more comfortable dive. Due to its location in a channel, divers should be prepared for potentially variable currents, which are often responsible for attracting the larger marine animals to the pinnacle. Freedivers can explore the shallower reef top, while scuba divers can descend to explore the deeper slopes and coral blocks.
