About this dive site

This dive site, Muniyafushi Kandu, is characterized as a very wide channel (Kandu) where the reef top is found at a depth of 12 to 14 meters. The corals in this area are in good condition, forming a vibrant ecosystem. Divers can experience a thrilling drift dive as the channel's edge drops off into the deep ocean, allowing them to float along the impressive wall. Marine life at Muniyafushi Kandu is exceptionally rich and diverse. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of snapper and fuselier, alongside impressive pelagic species such as Dogtooth Tuna, Jack, and Giant Trevally. Groupers are also commonly sighted, complementing the wide array of fish species typical of the Maldivian waters. Being a Kandu, currents can be strong and variable, making it an exhilarating dive, particularly for advanced divers. The consistent presence of large schooling fish and pelagic predators suggests year-round potential for excellent encounters. It is advisable to dive with experienced guides familiar with local current patterns to maximize the experience and ensure safety.
