About this dive site
This dive site, known as Three Palms, offers a quiet and serene experience along a vibrant wall in the Maldives. It is aptly named after three distinct and beautiful formations of table corals that adorn the reef. Divers typically navigate along this impressive wall, which descends to a maximum of 21 meters, starting from the shallower top of what is described as a house reef. The site provides a peaceful underwater journey, showcasing the pristine beauty of Maldivian coral ecosystems.
The marine biodiversity at Three Palms is exceptionally rich, boasting a high number of both fish and coral species, primarily hard corals. On the top of the house reef, blacktip reef sharks are frequently observed. The wall itself is home to intriguing smaller creatures such as lionfish and lobsters, alongside a diverse array of small reef fish. In the adjacent channel, the chances of encountering larger pelagic species are high, including magnificent eagle rays and, on occasion, graceful reef mantas.
The Maldives generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round, but specific sightings of manta rays can be seasonal, so checking local reports is advisable for optimal encounters. Both scuba divers and freedivers will find this site highly rewarding, with its accessible depths and abundant marine life. For macro photographers, the numerous small fish, lionfish, and lobsters present excellent subjects, while wide-angle photographers will appreciate the impressive coral landscapes and opportunities for capturing pelagic action.
