About this dive site
This dive site, Veyvah Tila, is a small submerged pinnacle (Thila) located west of Veyvah Island in the Maldives. Situated within an inner atoll, it is widely considered an easy and accessible dive site. Divers will navigate interesting topography including drop-offs and overhangs starting from approximately 15 meters. To the west, a sandy plateau covered in diverse coral formations can be explored, while the north side features several large, prominent coral blocks.
The vibrant coral blocks on and around Veyvah Tila are teeming with macro life, making it a fantastic spot for close-up observations. Common sightings include numerous shrimp, various species of nudibranchs, and schools of glassfish sheltering in crevices. Moray eels are frequently encountered in their hideaways. Additionally, medium-sized reef fish such as fusiliers and sweet lips can be observed cruising the reef.
The best time to visit Veyvah Tila, like most Maldivian dive sites, is during the dry season (December to May) when conditions typically offer excellent visibility and calm waters. This site is particularly recommended for macro photographers due to its abundance of small critters. Freedivers will find the 22-meter maximum depth and varied topography engaging, while snorkelers can enjoy the shallower coral gardens and rich marine life near the surface.
