About this dive site
This dive site presents a unique opportunity to explore two historic tugboats, St. Michael and Number 10 (also known as Iz-Zaghra), located at Zonqor Point in Marsaskala, Malta. These vessels were intentionally scuttled in 1998 to create an artificial reef and enhance the local diving environment. Both wrecks lie on a sandy seabed approximately 21 meters deep, with St. Michael reaching a maximum depth of 22 meters and Number 10 at 21 meters. The wrecks are situated about 50 meters apart. Originally designed to work in Valletta’s Grand Harbour, they now provide shelter for marine life including sponges and corals, transforming the area into a thriving artificial reef. Visibility can vary; generally good visibility is reported when not influenced by local conditions. These tugboats offer an accessible wreck dive suitable for divers with intermediate experience, providing excellent opportunities for underwater photography and exploring a unique historical site. Nearby wrecks include Tug 2 off Exiles, Patrol Boat P31 off Comino, and WWII vessels HMS Maori and X127/Carolita in Marsamxett Harbour.
