About this dive site

This dive site, Eagle Rock, is a versatile and engaging location for divers of all experience levels. The underwater topography features a sloping rocky reef that gently descends towards a sandy bottom at 16 meters. In the shallower sections of the reef, a distinct canyon opens up to the south, providing an interesting feature around 6 meters deep. Towards the north, the reef transitions into an impressive field of boulders, creating a varied and dynamic underwater landscape for exploration.

Eagle Rock is particularly renowned for its vibrant marine life, appealing to both macro enthusiasts and those interested in medium-sized creatures. Divers can expect to encounter colorful Cortez and King Angelfish, various species of Moray eels hiding among the rocks, numerous Lobsters, and the distinctive Giant Hawkfish. The site offers excellent opportunities for observing a diverse range of reef inhabitants and cryptic critters.

The site is suitable for diving year-round, with generally good conditions in the Sea of Cortez. Its diverse structure, from shallow canyons to boulder fields, combined with rich marine life, makes it a highlight for underwater photographers, particularly for macro photography. Freedivers will also find the varied depths and interesting features within the 16-meter maximum depth range very accommodating for extended breath-hold exploration.
