This dive site, Western Rocky, is an exposed pinnacle featuring an extensive cave system and impressive rock formations within Myanmar's waters. Divers can explore multiple entry and exit points, including a large main cave. Navigation requires skill due to the challenging nature of the site, particularly strong and unpredictable currents.
The site is teeming with vibrant soft corals and anemones. Marine life includes resident nurse sharks, bowmouth guitarfish, and a wealth of macro life such as harlequin shrimp, frogfish, seahorses, lobsters, and crabs. Occasional sightings of larger pelagics like whale sharks and manta rays add to the excitement.
Western Rocky is best visited during the dry season, typically from October to May, when conditions are generally more stable, though currents remain a factor. It is specifically recommended for experienced divers due to its challenging currents and cave environment. Freedivers may find the strong currents and cave system less suitable, while snorkelers are not advised for safety.
