This dive site, Cock’s Comb Island in Myanmar, is a truly unique limestone atoll renowned for its distinctive heart-shaped inner lagoon. Divers navigate through a fascinating cave or swim-through to access this visually stunning lagoon, which features dramatic rock formations and dynamic light conditions. The entry into the lagoon can be challenging and tide-dependent, adding an adventurous element to the experience.
Below the surface, the site boasts vibrant hard and soft corals, delicate sea fans, and colourful anemones. The diverse marine life includes abundant reef fish, a variety of fascinating nudibranchs, elusive seahorses, and various shrimp species. While larger pelagics are not its primary draw, occasional larger species may also be encountered.
The best time to visit aligns with the dry season, typically from October to May, offering the calmest waters and best visibility. Divers should be comfortable with confined spaces and be mindful of tide schedules for optimal entry and exit from the lagoon. Its shallow average depth and rich macro life also make it an excellent spot for freedivers and snorkelers seeking unique underwater experiences.
