This dive site, known as Double Wreck, is located off the coast of Sint Eustatius. Despite its name, the 300-year-old wrecks themselves are no longer visible, leaving only remnants such as ballast and an anchor to hint at their historical presence. The site is characterized by its relatively flat topography, making navigation straightforward over a sandy and seagrass bottom.
The primary draw for marine life enthusiasts at Double Wreck is the healthy seagrass bed, which serves as a feeding ground for grazing turtles. Beyond the turtles, divers can expect to encounter a variety of smaller reef fish and other 'beautiful things' dwelling within the seagrass and around the historical artifacts.
Ideal for beginner divers due to its shallow maximum and average depths, Double Wreck offers a relaxed diving experience. Snorkelers and freedivers will also find the site highly suitable, enjoying the calm conditions and easy access to marine life. The best time to visit is generally year-round, offering consistent conditions for exploration.
