This dive site features the Kiekuut, a flat freighter deliberately sunk in Kraaienbergse Plas 7. It serves as an artificial reef, providing structure and shelter. The wreck itself is relatively shallow, making it easy to navigate and explore. In the future, a dedicated diving center will improve access and facilities, making it an even more popular local spot.
During the colder winter months, the site becomes a bustling hub of marine activity as fish from across the Kraaienbergse Plas 7 migrate en masse to the Kiekuut for hibernation. Divers can expect to see large numbers of perch, pike, and various other fish species congregated around the wreck.
The best time to visit is during the winter to witness the spectacular fish migration. Currently, access might be challenging, but politely asking construction workers for parking is a viable option. Once the diving center is complete, access will be significantly easier, enhancing the diving experience for both scuba divers and freedivers seeking a unique freshwater wreck dive.
