About this dive site

This dive site offers a fascinating exploration of a sunken graveyard, primarily located in Zuid-Holland. The area was once a vital part of the shipping routes connecting Rotterdam and Den Briel, resulting in many shipwrecks resting on the seabed. Divers can discover numerous artifacts, including a vintage Volkswagen car, remnants of a heipalen forest (likely timber piles), and even a slide! Following the tire tracks or searching the sand reveals opportunities to encounter flatfish, shrimp, and juvenile flounders. A notable feature is the canyon wall, which holds fossilized remains. Another dive site, Slag Baardmannetje, presents its own set of underwater treasures: old wreck fragments, some diving arms, a substantial concrete structure (likely a wharf), and the preserved remains of the 'vermaarde' Amsterdamned ship. You’ll find various marine life here, such as flatfish, crabs, and occasional sightings of rainbow trout or herring.
