This dive site, Plompetoren, is named after the remaining tower of Koudekerke village, which was lost to the sea. Navigation is relatively straightforward, with depth lines running parallel to the shore, reaching up to 30 meters. However, the site is characterized by potentially strong currents and often poor visibility.
While the specific marine life is not detailed, divers can typically expect to encounter hardy temperate water species common to the North Sea. These may include various types of crabs, shrimp, flatfish, gobies, and a diverse range of local anemones and seaweed.
Diving at Plompetoren is best undertaken at high tide, which is preferred due to current dynamics. Given the challenging conditions of strong currents and limited visibility, this site is strongly advised for experienced and advanced divers only. It is not suitable for inexperienced divers, snorkelers, or freedivers.
