About this dive site

This dive site is located in Wellington Harbour, situated on the remains of an old scientific research station. The area features extensive mussel lines, providing habitat for a variety of marine life. These lines are home to sponges and anemones, alongside juvenile leather jackets and masking crabs that find shelter amongst them. Exploring the sandy seabed reveals stargazers, sole, and paddle crabs. For those seeking more delicate encounters, seahorses and pipefish can be observed along the weedline. The site also includes the remnants of an old wharf and a car, adding to its historical interest. This dive offers a fascinating glimpse into both marine ecosystems and past human activity.
