This dive site, Bagacawa Point, is situated approximately 12 kilometers north of Asturias Poblacion proper. It features a fringing reef that begins with a shallow tidal flat, gradually sloping down to a sandy bottom at around 3 meters before reaching its maximum depth of 11 meters. Navigation is straightforward, following the reef's gentle contours from the shallow tidal zone.
The shallow tidal flat is characterized by a rich macro algal assemblage, providing a vibrant ecosystem for smaller marine life. Divers can expect to encounter various branching and massive lifeforms of corals, which host a diversity of reef fish and invertebrates typically found in such shallow, healthy habitats.
Bagacawa Point is best visited during calm weather for optimal visibility and enjoyment. Its shallow profile makes it an excellent location for beginner divers, offering a relaxed environment to practice skills and enjoy the reef. Freedivers and snorkelers will also find Bagacawa Point highly suitable due to its accessible depths and abundant marine flora.
