This dive site, La Tortue House Reef, is situated at the southern end of the Dauin Poblacion District 1 Sanctuary. It offers a unique combination of excellent muck diving areas and a thriving, healthy coral reef. Divers can explore the main reef up to a maximum depth of 15 meters, while advanced divers can also enjoy a distinct mini reef located deeper at 30 meters within the broader area. The site caters to all levels of divers, from beginners making their first explorations to experienced divers seeking rich biodiversity.
The marine life at La Tortue House Reef is exceptionally diverse. Regular sightings include majestic Green Sea Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles, along with a wide array of vibrant Reef fishes. The muck areas are particularly renowned for their macro inhabitants, such as elusive Frog Fish, elegant Emperor Cuttlefish, intriguing Sea Kraits, numerous species of Nudibranchs, slender Pipefishes, various Shrimps, and Crabs.
La Tortue House Reef is an ideal location for both macro and wide-angle underwater photography due to its varied topography and abundant marine subjects. Its accessible depths and rich shallow reef also make it highly suitable for snorkelers and freedivers. While no specific best time to visit is mentioned, the Philippines generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round, with the dry season from November to May typically providing calmer seas and optimal visibility.
