Monad Shoal

This dive site, Monad Shoal, is a renowned seamount plateau located off Malapascua Island, globally famous as the most reliable place to encounter the elusive Thresher Sharks. It serves as a crucial cleaning station, attracting these deep-dwelling sharks to shallower waters early each morning. Divers typically descend to the plateau and position themselves respectfully to observe the sharks as they visit the cleaner fish.
The star attraction is undoubtedly the Thresher Shark, often accompanied by their cleaner wrasse companions. While the primary focus is on the sharks, the shoal also hosts various reef fish species and typical hard and soft coral formations found in Philippine waters, contributing to a vibrant ecosystem.
The best time to visit Monad Shoal is year-round, with the crucial tip being to dive very early in the morning for the highest chance of seeing the Thresher Sharks.
