About this dive site

This dive site presents the Okikawa Maru, a substantial Japanese tanker shipwreck located off Busuanga Island, two miles south of Conception. This wreck is considered the largest among those found in Coron Bay and measures 168 meters in length. The depth ranges from approximately 10 to 16 meters, making it suitable for beginner wreck divers. The ship offers extensive penetration opportunities, allowing advanced divers to explore the engine room via the propeller shaft. Strong tidal currents are a characteristic feature of this dive, and these currents often reveal abundant marine life; fish congregating in areas sheltered from the current behind crumpled metal or within deck houses. At the bow, divers may encounter schools of snappers and large batfish navigating slight currents. A dive here can provide an enjoyable experience for up to an hour at these depths. The Okikawa Maru is frequently cited as a superior wreck diving destination in the Philippines compared to other wrecks like the Irako.
