This dive site is the Cordeca, a Navy corvette intentionally sunk in July 2016 to serve as an artificial reef. Lying upright, the top of the ship rests at approximately 15 meters, while its deepest sections extend down to 30 meters. Divers can explore the exterior of this well-preserved wreck, which provides an intriguing structure for underwater navigation and discovery.
The Cordeca has quickly become a thriving marine habitat, attracting a diverse range of species. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of bogues and horse mackerel, alongside impressive groupers, various species of breams, and colourful parrotfish. Other common sightings include blacktail comber, striped mullets, triggerfish, rays, barracudas, and jacks, making it a vibrant ecosystem.
With visibility consistently greater than 25 meters and usually sheltered conditions from current and wind, the Cordeca offers excellent diving year-round. It is highly suitable for both recreational divers looking to explore a wreck and underwater photographers seeking abundant marine life. Its accessible depth range also makes it an attractive site for experienced freedivers.
