This dive site is known as the Maior Recife Natural de Portugal, the largest natural reef in Portugal, situated in the Algarve region off Armação de Pera. Located approximately 4 nautical miles from the coast and protected by the natural bay, it offers consistently excellent diving conditions throughout the year. The reef features depths ranging from 15 to 22 meters, with an average depth around 9 meters, making it an accessible and enjoyable site for various diving profiles.

The Maior Recife boasts exceptional biodiversity, with over 800 different species identified. This includes a rich variety of marine life, such as 116 species of fish, a remarkable 649 species of invertebrates, and 50 types of algae. Divers can expect to encounter a vibrant ecosystem teeming with small reef creatures, diverse fish populations, and intricate plant life.
