About this dive site

This dive site is the Navio Zambeze, one of four Portuguese Navy ships sunk to create the Ocean Revival underwater park. The wreck lies at a maximum depth of 26 meters, with an average depth around 13 meters. Navigation is relatively straightforward, as the wreck is a large, easily identifiable structure, marked by surface buoys. The history of the site involves the deliberate sinking of decommissioned vessels to promote marine biodiversity and create a unique diving attraction.

The abundant marine life is a significant highlight. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter conger eels, sea bream, and golden bream, along with a variety of other fish species that have colonized the artificial reef. The wreck itself provides a complex habitat, offering plenty of crevices and nooks for smaller creatures to thrive.

The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is generally better and the water is warmer. Divers should be aware of potential currents, especially around the wreck. Because of the depth and potential currents, freediving at this site is not recommended; scuba diving is the safer and more appropriate method. Always check the weather and sea conditions before diving.
