About this dive site

This dive site, Âncoras, is named for the several abandoned fishing boat anchors that rest on the seabed, creating an intriguing underwater landscape. The anchor buoy at 6 meters makes it easy to find and descend, perfect for navigation even for beginner divers. The relatively shallow depths make it an excellent site for try dives and check dives, and the generally calm conditions provide a relaxing underwater experience.

The marine life at Âncoras is quite diverse for its location. Divers can expect to encounter various species of fish, including porgies, parrotfish, sea bream, and triggerfish. Invertebrates such as spider crabs may also be spotted, along with the occasional moray eel or octopus seeking shelter amongst the anchors and the seabed. The site lacks extensive coral formations but offers interesting features around the anchors.

The best time to visit Âncoras would likely be during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically better and the water is warmer. For both divers and freedivers, it's important to check the weather forecast before entering the water and to be aware of the potential presence of currents, although usually mild. Proper buoyancy control is recommended to avoid disturbing the seabed and marine life.
