About this dive site
This dive site is a beautiful area known for its sand bottom gullies and the vibrant corals that grow within them. The Nature Foundation has played a crucial role in restoring this reef, undertaking a Coral Restoration project in 2020. As part of this effort, they successfully outplanted Acropora coral fragments—some even survivors from Hurricane Irma—into the area. Following the devastating hurricane, Staghorn coral (Staghorn) was nearly wiped out, with only two fragments remaining in their nursery and 95% of the original colonies lost. Remarkably, one viable Staghorn fragment has flourished into ten healthy colonies thanks to the restoration work. This site offers a unique opportunity to witness the ongoing recovery of a damaged reef ecosystem.
