This dive site, Moonhole Cave, offers an immersive experience starting with a descent into 9 meters of vibrant blue water. Divers follow a picturesque wall on one side, while a rolling reef gradually meets the sandy bottom at 15 meters. The reef then steeply inclines to 28 meters, adorned with larger boulders and unique formations, particularly in the shallower areas. At an accessible depth of 8 meters, a wide cavern presents itself, inviting exploration for curious divers.
The marine life here is abundant and diverse. Divers can expect to encounter schools of elegant blue creole wrasse, vibrant yellowtail snapper, and charming brown chromis, often circling around solitary silvery cero. The cavern is a known spot to check for docile nurse sharks. The reef landscape itself is a living canvas, covered in an array of colorful sponges, with delicate whip corals and majestic sea fans swaying gently in the mild currents.
This site is excellent for a leisurely drift dive, allowing divers to slowly glide along and take in the captivating scenery. While the maximum depth is 20 meters, the shallower reef and accessible cavern make it suitable for both experienced divers and those newer to the sport. It's also well-suited for freedivers and snorkelers, who can enjoy the vibrant life and the cavern entrance in the shallower parts of the site.
