This dive site, known as Richmond Beach, serves as the House Reef for Richmond Vale Diving & Hiking Center. It's primarily a shore dive, offering easy access to the vibrant coral reef located just 10 meters (30 feet) from the shoreline. The underwater landscape is remarkable, dominated by massive, sculpted soft coral formations that create an impressive, layered topography. Navigation is straightforward, following the reef from the beach.
The reef is adorned with blossoming colors, featuring numerous gorgonians and bright colored sponges throughout the entire dive. While specific marine animal species are not mentioned, a healthy soft coral reef ecosystem typically supports a diverse array of reef fish, crustaceans, and other small invertebrates, making it an excellent spot for macro photography enthusiasts.
The best time to visit Richmond Beach is generally during the dry season (December to May) when conditions are most stable with excellent visibility. It's an ideal site for beginner divers to gain confidence and for freedivers to explore the shallow, colorful reef. Photographers will appreciate the vibrant soft corals and potential macro life, making it a relaxing and visually rewarding dive.
