About this dive site

This dive site is South Laguna Reef, located on Tiran Island in Saudi Arabia. It's known for its diverse topography, offering both a challenging wall dive on the outer reef and a calm, shallow lagoon ideal for beginners. The lagoon features numerous coral bommies, making it perfect for exploring and discovering smaller marine life. Navigation is relatively straightforward; the lagoon transitions smoothly into the more challenging wall section, allowing divers to choose their level of difficulty.

The marine life is abundant and varied. Divers can expect to encounter schools of bannerfish, red anthias with clownfish, moray eels, stonefish, and the occasional Napoleon wrasse. Dolphins are also commonly sighted while approaching the site. Additionally, the reef is teeming with various smaller invertebrates, contributing to the rich biodiversity.

The best time to visit South Laguna Reef is during the warmer months (spring and summer), when visibility is typically at its best and the water temperature is more comfortable. While currents are generally mild, divers and freedivers should always check local conditions and dive with a buddy. The shallow lagoon offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling and freediving, while the outer reef provides a captivating experience for scuba divers of all skill levels.
