About this dive site
This dive site, Marianne, in the Seychelles, is known for its thrilling drift dives through granite formations and underwater passages. The site's topography features varied depths, ranging from 12 to 25 meters, creating a dynamic and exciting underwater landscape. Navigation is primarily dictated by the current, so divers should maintain awareness of their position and ascent/descent points.
The marine life at Marianne is exceptionally diverse. Divers can expect to encounter numerous species of sharks, including blacktip reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, and even the occasional whale shark and guitar shark. Large schools of eagle rays gracefully glide through the water, alongside bumphead parrotfish, turtles, and a vast array of smaller reef fish. The diverse granite formations also provide habitat for a range of coral and invertebrate life.
The best time to visit Marianne is during the Seychelles' dry season (typically April to October), when conditions are generally calmer, and visibility is excellent. Strong currents are possible, particularly during the shoulder seasons. While freediving is not recommended at this site due to the currents and depths, divers should have good buoyancy control and be comfortable with drift dives in moderate current conditions. Proper planning and a dive guide are recommended for all dives at this location.
