About this dive site

This dive site, known as Tivoli Pinnacles, is located east of Rome and near Roman Rock. The name originates from the nearby town of Tivoli, Italy. The reef features a high profile pinnacle group at its southern end and a smaller one further north. It's relatively long and narrow, running roughly North-South. The topography includes substantial bedrock and boulders, particularly on the western side, with scattered outliers. Visibility can be good, though colors may appear muted due to water depth – greenish unless artificial lighting is used. The maximum depth ranges from approximately 10 meters at the pinnacles tops to around 22 meters in deeper areas. The marine life is diverse; the north pinnacles are known for groups of Bank Steenbras, while the south pinnacle hosts Roman in residence. Feather stars and gorgonian sea fans thrive on the steeper sides, and large clusters of grey sea cucumbers often occupy the horizontal zones. Macro photography equipment will excel here due to abundant invertebrates, but external strobes are recommended for distances over 300mm to minimize backscatter. The surrounding area includes similar reefs at Roman Rock, Castor Rock, Rambler Rock, and nearby unnamed pinnacles.
