This dive site, known as 'Anchors Canary', is a classic wall dive located in Spain's Canary Islands. Divers descend to an initial depth of 18 meters to reach the impressive wall, which then drops further to 25-27 meters. The wall can be explored in both west and east directions. The site gets its name from the huge, ancient anchors found along the westward path, adding a historical and archaeological element to the dive experience.
Throughout the dive, the site teems with marine life, including groupers, abbots, breams, and large banks of sardines. Occasionally, larger pelagic species such as tunas, amberjacks, and cods can be sighted. Among the rocky crevices and overhangs, divers can discover rays, lobsters, and various moray eels, contributing to a rich biodiversity.
The best time to visit Anchors Canary is generally during calmer sea conditions, which allow for easier access and enjoyment of the wall topography and marine life. This site is particularly suitable for intermediate divers comfortable with deeper wall dives. Freedivers will also find the wall depth and abundant marine life appealing, offering excellent opportunities for breath-hold exploration. Good buoyancy control is recommended to fully appreciate the features of this classic wall.
