About this dive site
This dive site is located in a beautiful bay between La Azohía and Cabo Tiñoso, specifically within the municipality of Cartagena on Spain’s eastern coast, near Cala Cerrada. It's a spacious, clear cove that serves as both a serene beach and an excellent swimming area. Access to the site can be achieved by boat or via land paths leading down from the surrounding hills and ramblas – making it ideal for those seeking outdoor activities and tranquility. The underwater environment offers a varied landscape, including rocky bottoms, sandy areas, gravel beds, and expansive meadows of Posidonia oceanica (also known as seagrass), abundant with nacras (Pinna nobilis). Diving conditions are particularly favorable to newcomers; on the sheltered western side, dives typically reach a maximum depth of 20 meters, allowing for exploration amongst rock formations. Conversely, diving towards the east (Levante) reveals walls and canyons extending up to 30 meters deep, providing opportunities to observe a diverse range of flora and fauna characteristic of this coastal area, including marine life residing within crevices and among the rocky structures resulting from past landslides. A small "cave" at approximately 6 meters depth serves as a convenient starting point for dives, with vertical walls descending to 28 meters.
