About this dive site

This dive site, El Puente, is a shallow volcanic formation sculpted by years of ocean swell, creating intriguing underwater structures. Divers can navigate a natural bridge, swim through a narrow tunnel connecting different sections, and explore a maze-like area. The relatively shallow depth and straightforward navigation make it accessible to divers of all skill levels, although a boat is typically needed for access. The site's volcanic origin is clearly evident in the formations, offering unique photographic opportunities.

The marine life at El Puente is diverse and abundant. Moray eels find refuge in the volcanic cracks, while yellowfin jacks, groupers, and breams are frequently seen hovering beneath the bridge. Stingrays and electric rays rest on sandy patches. While the site may not offer the largest of marine animals, the density and variety of fish provide ample opportunities for both macro and wide-angle photography.

The best time to visit El Puente is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically best and water temperatures are more comfortable. For freedivers, the relatively shallow depth and manageable currents make it an ideal location for exploring. Divers should always check local conditions and dive with a buddy, paying attention to the potential for mild currents and navigating the various underwater features safely.
