About this dive site

This dive site is located at the south end of Los Cancajos beach in Spain. The dive begins with a descent along a downward slope, gradually revealing fields of vibrant red gorgonians. Divers can explore further to encounter black corals at greater depths. The return journey offers a unique opportunity to navigate the shallow, intricate lava formations of the "Mordor" labyrinth. This area is known for its contrasting landscapes and underwater formations.

The marine life at this site is diverse and abundant. The sandy bottom supports various ray species, while amberjacks can be spotted patrolling the area. Schools of smaller fish add to the vibrancy of the underwater ecosystem. The red and black corals provide habitat for a variety of invertebrates and smaller fish.

The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when water temperatures are most pleasant and visibility is typically better. This dive site is more suitable for certified divers due to its depth and potential for currents. Divers should be comfortable with navigating varying depths and underwater topography. Good buoyancy control is essential, especially in the narrow passages of the lava labyrinth.
