This dive site, Helena Reef, is a small, easy-to-navigate reef rising approximately 1.5 meters from the seabed. With an average depth of 7 meters and a maximum of 15 meters, it is suitable for divers of all experience levels. Its simple topography offers a relaxed environment for exploration and is particularly good for training dives.
The reef is home to a vibrant array of marine life, including numerous snappers and serves as a nursery for trompetfish, indicating a healthy ecosystem. Divers can also encounter many moray eels and should be watchful for scorpionfish cleverly camouflaged among the rocks.
The best time to dive Helena Reef is in the early morning to avoid potential strong currents that can develop later in the day. Its shallow depths and abundant macro life make it excellent for both scuba divers and freedivers, particularly those interested in observing smaller marine creatures and practicing buoyancy. Remember to watch out for hidden scorpionfish.
