About this dive site

This dive site, Illa de Tirant, is located off the coast of Fornells Bay in Menorca, Spain. It's a relatively small islet offering a variety of dive experiences, suitable for both novice and experienced divers. The shallow, sheltered cove provides a perfect introduction to scuba diving, while the surrounding areas offer more challenging dives exploring the islet's perimeter and deeper waters. There are no historical records of shipwrecks or other notable historical events associated with this dive site.

The marine life around Illa de Tirant is rich and varied. Divers can expect to see a wide array of fish, including salemas, mullets, groupers (both large and smaller individuals), damselfish, and octopus in the cove. Moving to the outer edges of the islet, larger groupers, nudibranchs, and gorgonians can be observed. The diverse ecosystem supports a variety of invertebrates and smaller fish ideal for macro photography.

The best time to visit Illa de Tirant is during the warmer months (May to October), when visibility is generally better and the water temperature is more comfortable. However, even during the shoulder seasons, diving can be enjoyable. The sheltered cove offers protection from strong currents, making it ideal for beginners and snorkelers. However, divers should always check local conditions and weather forecasts before entering the water and be mindful of potential mild currents around the islet.
