About this dive site

This dive site, Inmersión de la Virgen, is named for a statue of the Virgin Mary located inside a small cave at a depth between 18 and 24 meters. Divers will explore a wall abundant with orange Astroid corals, descending towards the tip of a rock formation known as 'the monkey', offering stunning views of the blue beyond its ridge. The navigation involves following the wall and carefully exploring the cave containing the Virgin statue.

The marine life is rich and varied. Shoals of bogas and lemons (fish species), along with spiny dogfish and mackerel (hunting), are common sightings. Larger inhabitants include groupers of considerable size, octopus, cuttlefish, shiners, soles, and a great diversity of nudibranchs. This abundance of smaller fish and invertebrate life makes macro photography opportunities exceptional.

The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically better and marine life is more active. However, currents can be more pronounced during this period, so it's important to check conditions before diving. This site is not generally suitable for freediving due to depth and potential currents; It is recommended to use appropriate scuba gear.
