About this dive site
This dive site, Los Pinos, is described as the 'little brother' of another dive site, suggesting it's a smaller, less challenging location. Its shallow depth and easy beach access make it ideal for beginner divers and those learning new techniques. The site is characterized by a relatively simple underwater topography, likely consisting of rocky formations, which provide shelter and habitat for the rich marine life.
The abundance of life is a key feature of Los Pinos. Sea horses, rockfish, baby groupers, and octopuses are mentioned as common sightings. The presence of rocks and warm water contributes to this biodiversity. Divers can expect to observe a variety of small fish and invertebrates as well as occasional larger fish.
The best time to visit Los Pinos would likely be during the warmer months (spring to autumn) when water temperatures are higher and visibility is generally better. For freedivers, the shallow depth and calm conditions make this an excellent training site. Divers should note that even though the site is generally calm, checking local weather and current reports before diving is always recommended.
