About this dive site

This dive site is located near El Muellito and the two breakwaters of Playa Chica in Lanzarote, Spain. It's a shallow and easily accessible site, perfect for beginners, snorkeling, and night dives. The dive site is relatively small, with a gently sloping seabed. Navigation is straightforward, mainly exploring the area around the breakwaters and shallow reefs. There is no particular historical significance attached to this site, however its appeal lies in the ease of access and the opportunity to observe marine life close up.

The marine life here is diverse, although not exceptionally abundant. Expect to see various species of fish common to the region, including smaller reef fish, perhaps some larger fish depending on the season, and a good selection of invertebrates, crustaceans and smaller organisms ideal for macro photography. Seaweed and various types of algae are likely also present.

The best time to visit Playa Chica is during the warmer months (May to October) when the water is warmer and visibility is typically better. Night dives are also recommended as the marine life is often more active. For freedivers, the shallow depth and calm conditions make it an excellent location for practice. Divers should always check the weather and water conditions before diving, and appropriate safety precautions should be taken, even at this shallow depth.
