About this dive site

This dive site, known as Confucius Rock, is a relatively new and unmapped location in a hot spring village. It features an eroded, upright reef resembling Master Kong, located approximately 200-300 meters on the right side of the road from the main entrance. Access involves a short trail at the end of the guardrail – expect about a five-minute walk to reach the intertidal zone and then a connection via a lagoon. High tide is recommended for easier access. Divers can explore several distinct areas. Initially, proceed past the lagoon and you’ll find a small cave; entry through this cave is possible, or alternatively, continue along the reef towards an outcropping. This leads to a large rift valley approximately 10 meters deep, rich in coral formations and offering a unique terrain experience. Turning left, one discovers a near-surface reef teeming with clownfish. Further exploration along the cliff face provides access to sandy areas about 17 meters away, including a light-transmitting tunnel – ideal for beginner practice. This area extends deeper to around 25 meters, passing through several small reefs and ultimately leading to a large soft coral reef populated by species like golden seabass, blue damselfish, and more. The dive offers approximately 3-5 minutes to appreciate this area fully. Return options include swimming back across the sand or utilizing the rift valley as a navigation point, be aware of potential white waves on either side. Creatures observed often include damselfish, snapper, clownfish, sea turtle, squid, sea slug, parrotfish, hornfish, and scorpionfish. The site has a difficulty rating of Moderate (★★☆☆☆) and offers an exciting experience (★★★★☆). Maximum depth is 25 meters. It’s best to avoid diving during east or southeast winds.
