This dive site is the HTMS Khram, a purpose-sunk Thai navy vessel creating an artificial reef off Koh Phai in the Pattaya Far Islands. Divers access the wreck via ascent/descent lines, which guide them directly to the ship's structure, simplifying navigation around the large vessel that rests upright on the seabed. Sunk in 2003, it has since become a thriving ecosystem attracting a diverse range of marine life.
The wreck teems with aquatic life. Common sightings include graceful Sting Rays, curious Bat Fish, and camouflaged Scorpion Fish. Schools of Sweet Lips can be found sheltering in its nooks, while large schools of Barracudas often patrol the deck. Divers are also frequently delighted by the occasional presence of Hawksbill turtles gracefully swimming around the structure.
The best time to visit the HTMS Khram is between November and March when conditions are exceptionally favorable, with visibility increasing significantly from 8m to up to 30m. This period offers the clearest views of the wreck and its abundant marine inhabitants. With an average depth of 12 meters and a maximum depth of 24 meters, it is suitable for divers of all levels, and experienced freedivers can also explore its shallower sections.
