About this dive site
This dive site is a fascinating wreck located off the coast of Chumphon Province in Thailand. The vessel, originally commissioned by the US Navy in 1944 for Pacific island-hopping campaigns during World War II, has undergone several transitions. It was subsequently handed over to the Thai Navy for training purposes before being decommissioned and repurposed as an artificial reef. Remarkably, it’s a sister ship to the HTMS Sattakut, another wreck nearby at Koh Tao – although slightly shallower, making it accessible to divers of varying experience levels. The Prab offers a unique opportunity to explore a historical artifact while encountering vibrant marine life. Expect to see large schools of one-spot snapper and fusiliers, and occasionally even spot hawksbill turtles or the rarer whale shark. This wreck provides an intriguing dive for those seeking a connection with maritime history and abundant underwater wildlife.
